Through learning a new arts based skill together. In a drum culture workshop, teams are invited to view their situation from a completely different perspective. The Drum Circle offers a perfect vehicle for examining key issues such as communication, innovation and motivation. What may sometimes be an uncomfortable experience at first soon becomes an enjoyable and illuminating voyage of discovery.
Through the process of making music, we can access our intuitive mind. Participants are encouraged to listen with their whole body, thereby deepening the group connection. Themes such as improvisation, texture, arrangement and dynamics are explored, resulting in the group creating their own short piece as a finale to the session. There normally follows a session of feedback and evaluation.
It will also point to the need for courage (which comes from the French word Coeur – or heart), to step outside of ones comfort zone.
We have found that through combining arts-based activities (African drums, storytelling, bodywork, visual art etc) with transformational teambuilding coaching, we can deliver a powerful tool for shifting a team of leaders to their next level of performance. When you combine these two elements, a powerful and highly enjoyable environment for accelerated leadership transformation and team alignment is established.

Playing music together reduces stress, develops our understanding and willingness to work as a team. Exercises of this nature are enjoyable experiences and prove to be beneficial in the workplace.
All the proposals are taking place into a specific area and have an inspirational and transformational character for all teams and individuals, according to the schedule mentioned before. All the outcomes and results are oriented to the results you want to achieve.
Handheld instruments
- Sound shapes - sound shapes are small handheld drums which are similar to boom whackers as they come in different colors with different tones. This creates a loud, instant drum energizer, ideal for a wake up to start the day or the after lunch graveyard slot.
- Boom whackers - boom whackers show the simple magic of tuned percussion creating a wonderful melodic sound. We can split the group into different sections or notes of the orchestra. The end product is a fantastic melody that is only possible through communication and listening.

Icebreaking and energizer
The session would begin with a warm up which breaks the ice with humor, body percussion, and movement and rhythm games. We have found that it is the perfect way to include everyone, to allow them all to feel safe and having fun straight away.
You are the instrument!
- vocal percussion - no instruments just vocals! Human beat box sounds, creating rhythmic arrangements
- harmony singing - four part African chants, with WOR providing accompaniment
- found percussion - pens, coffee cups, lighters, anything that is available in the space; get creative within your environment!
- body percussion - click, slap, step yourself (and your colleague!). you are the instrument!
- combinations of any, or all of the above!
Talking drums - Rhythm orchestra
This is our main drumming session in which everyone plays at one time. We will provide a mixture of African and South American percussion, lots of big, medium and small drums, bells, shakers and wood blocks to create the orchestra. We facilitate different exercises and games which teaches different ethnic drum patterns. We also bring out the group's own rhythms and encourage improvisation from the participants. The Rhythm orchestra has lots of dynamic upbeat energy and is all inclusive; everyone has a part to play.
Earth song World music team building
This is a musical team building challenge involving unique instruments from around the world such as Africa, India, Nepal, Vietnam, Indonesia, Middle East, and Australia. Participants are asked to create a piece of music developing teamwork and leadership skills in the process. They are then asked to perform each piece to the rest of the group. This is a very effective and fun session with a chance to play some very unusual rare instruments from around the world.
Rain Storm & Ocean drum
This is a team exercise where the whole team works together in a circle to create the sound of a rain storm. It again aligns the team and completes the days.
