What is Best Year Yet®?

Best Year Yet® (BYY) is a program for quickly achieving significant performance gains inside an organization or team that positively impacts everything from employee morale to the bottom line. BYY has been proven and refined over 20 years worldwide.
The system is currently being practiced in many countries and is still expanding.

The program is based on a simple and powerful concept: What if next year would be your best year yet? What if every individual would approach his life in this way, for his own life, for the team, for the entire organization?

The system has at its core a process that takes shape as a workshop. The workshop can be delivered on A) an individual, personal and professional development level and/or B) the team level. During these workshops the team will be guided through 10 questions, which will result in a one-page year plan to achieve their best year yet. In the process, the team looks back to their successes and disappointments in the past year, and they translate these to three guidelines for the next year. The team creates a new mindset, directed to producing results; it defines a top ten goals and actions to realize the plan. The one-page plan is produced during the workshop, and all of the deep-seated reasoning behind it, is generated entirely by the participants themselves, which makes them feel owner of the plan, and therefore responsible for the realization of it.

A schedule of structured monthly/quarterly follow up sessions for a full year ensures the success of the BYY plan created in the workshops. BYY is the only performance enhancement system offering a structured, yearlong follow up protocol that includes measurement metrics, reporting and support by our software tool PROTM (Producing Results OnlineTM). During every follow up meeting the progress on the goals is measured and graphically represented, the team members support each other in taking responsibility, and new actions are defined for next period. Using the Producing Results Audio Series means adding a powerful lesson to the system every month, to even further improve the results of the team.

Results of Best Year Yet®

BYY has been successfully applied by various organizations to achieve the following goals:


The Best Year Yet® process

There are four stages in the Best Year Yet® Business Program:

  1. Before the workshop actually takes place, the BYY facilitator will have an intake with the team leader to collect background information on the team.
  2. The program starts with a 2 days BYY Business Workshop. The facilitator guides the team through 10 questions, which result in a powerful solid team plan with goals, priorities and clear individual responsibilities.
  3. Optional, after the team workshop the BYY Open Individual Workshop takes place (½ day). The process of this is workshop is similar to that of the BYY Business Workshop and creates for each participant an individual action plan to achieve their personal Best Year Yet. By doing this the personal goals are aligned with the company or team goals, which stimulate personal commitment and motivation.

    The team and individual workshop can be followed in random order.

  4. The team has monthly/quarterly followed up (result) sessions of half a day each. The meetings are focused on evaluating team performance, achieving interim monthly/quarterly goals set by the team in support of planned goals for the year. Measured achievement is logged, tracked and reported over the follow-up year, creating “picture over time” of the team’s performance. Quarterly “traffic light” reviews identify successes and challenges in realizing the team’s overall plan.

BYY is suited for all industries and disciplines. The program works effectively on all levels of the organization, from executive management team to department-level staff. The process doesn’t change. Rather, the person (individual) or people (team) participating automatically adapt the workshop process to their organization, culture, initiatives, challenges et cetera.
